Resolutions!! It’s time.

Posted by Leslie | It's a Coupon Life! | Thursday 30 December 2010 10:53 am

I am curious what resolutions you are making for 2011. Is it to lose weight? Get organize? Stockpile? Coupon? Save like never before? Maybe is a combination of all.

I really want to start a real stockpile this year. Currently, we have toothpaste, soups, frozen lemonades and a few other items. I want to be serious this year on savings. I also want to give. My heart was full watching videos of The Krazy Coupon Lady giving on her videos on YouTube. She did it with her toddler there. Just think of the lessons we can teach our kids!

I want to help you all along the way also. The balance of family, work, blogging and couponing are something I really want to master this year. I hope that this year will be full of blessings for all of us as we learn to save while giving away too.

If you didn’t catch TLC’s Extreme Couponing I believe the next showing is on Jan 4th. I hope that it will inspire you. Remember, this show was made for TV extreme. All featured have a heart for giving and helping others. While they do have their own stockpiles they give $1000s worth of food away each year too!

TLC Extreme Couponing tonight @ 8pm EST!!

Posted by Leslie | It's a Coupon Life! | Wednesday 29 December 2010 4:03 pm

Tonight at 8pm EST, Nathan Engels AKA MrCoupon along with three other people will be featured on TLC Extreme Couponing. Nathan is the founder of We Use Coupons which you have heard me mention before as a great coupon forum. WUC is a tremendous resource for me and has so many great people who are always happy to help.

Be sure to watch so you can see what Nathan built that was about 15 feet tall!!  They filmed it’s creation and it was almost entirely donated to local foodbanks!  TLC filmed the giving aspect of couponing!!  During this episode they donated around $6000-$7000 in product to a fantastic pantry!!!  (They shared this not to brag, but to lead by example, giving is such an amazing aspect of couponing!!!)

While you are waiting for the show to air tonight on The Learning Channel stop by WUC’s Frugal TVon YouTube they interviewed Amanda Ostrowski who is also an extreme couponer shown on TLC’s show tonight.

While I don’t intend to take my couponing to this level I do learn everyday from these folks on how to save more for my family. I plan for 2011 to be a serious year to coupon and start stockpiling! The best thing is these stockpiles are nearly free!

Please ask any questions you have about getting started couponing and stockpiling in the comments section below or on Facebook. I am happy to help and learn right beside you. I hope that this show and my site will help you start 2011 as the best year yet!

SWAGG Phone App – load your gift cards!

Posted by Leslie | It's at Home! | Monday 27 December 2010 3:00 pm

SWAGG is a pretty cool app for your iPhone or Droid to help you keep track of your gift cards and shoppers cards. You put the card numbers in your app and then show your phone to the cashier at the store.

I have been playing with it. I think it will work great for my Kroger shopper card since it converted it to a scannable card on my phone. However, my Target Gift cards are stored on the phone, but only show the card number not a bar code. If I showed this to the cashier it would take them longer to key the number in than it would for me to just use the card.

Even if you didn’t use the phone at the store to present your gift card it is still an app worth having. One benefit is it tells you the balance on the gift card. Another benefit it is really easy to sent a gift card to another SWAGG app user.

Overall, the app is very easy to use and the benefits are well worth checking out. Also, for every download you can help generate $1 will be donated by SWAGG to Stand Up for Cancer!

I was gifted $20 on the SWAGG App and entered into a drawing for a iPad from Moms Bloggers Club

Christmas Clearance!!

Posted by Leslie | It's a Coupon Life!,It's a New Sale! | Sunday 26 December 2010 8:49 am

Now that Christmas is over this is my favorite week of the year :) I can’t tell you how much I love Christmas Clearance! I typically shop clearance at Target, but you can stock up on a ton of items at any of your favorite stores. Not only will you be able to get cheap ornaments and decorations or even a new tree, but als everyday items. I would say about 90%+ of my Christmas decorations were clearance and most were 75% off!

Things to think of picking up this week:
Ziplock Bags
Candles/Air Fresheners
Paper Goods
Office supplies – tape etc..
Cookie Dough
Cake/Cookie boxed mixes
Candy

Just think of anything that may have a winter/Christmas like theme or design on it will be on clearance! Think of using Christmas tree patterned baggies for lunch in July :) Most stores should mark down to 50% off today. I know Target doesn’t typically go to 75% the 1st.

Remember the big box stores are not the only place you can stock up. Also check out your favorite grocery store, pharmacy and even stores like Kohls for decorations!

Check out the Print Coupons tab above to get some that may help you on your hunt for good deals! Let me know all the exciting stuff you get!
