Seek Me With All Your Heart – Book Review

Posted by Leslie | Reviews | Monday 4 April 2011 6:34 pm

I am really getting into these Amish stories! They are sweet love stores intertwined with Amish beliefs and even sometimes unbelief. They are true to the lifestyle and make you feel a connection with these characters. We live near an Amish community and it is nice to know they are just regular people with the same concerns as everyone else. They just live a little differently.

Seek Me with All Your Heart by Beth Wiseman follows Emily and David’s families. Both have recently moved to a new community across the country from everything they have ever known. Both have hurts and secrets that cloud their judgement and make walls form. The story cuts into different family members thoughts and lives, but still doesn’t interfere with the main story of the growing love of Emily and David. Follow Emily, David and the others as they open their hearts and learn to live in a new place with new people. It is a very relatable story even has the crabby old lady down the street and touches lightly on infidelity. Everyone will be able to see something and get something from this sweet story of love, heartache and growth.

It again was one of those stories you don’t want to put down. After I finished reading it, I found myself with the desire to read more. It does appears that a new story with David’s Aunt Katie Ann as the main character will be out this fall!

An Amish Love – Book Review

Posted by Leslie | It's Fun Stuff! | Wednesday 5 January 2011 8:00 pm

Amish Love Book

An Amish Love is three novels in one! Although, it says that on the cover I didn’t figure it out until I got through the first one, A Marriage of the Heart by Kelly Long. Healing Hearts by Beth Wiseman and What the Heart Sees by Kathleen Fuller are the other two included! If you read my last review you know I want a book that will keep my attention and pull me into it. These loves stories did just that! I couldn’t put it down. The stories make you smile, laugh and cry. What more do you want?

A Marriage of the Heart follows Abby and Joseph as marry unexpectedly and learn to know each other. It is really interesting as she kind of tricked him into the marriage yet they determine it was all in Gods planning that they were meant to be together.

What the Heart Sees is about Ellie who was blinded in a car accident. She thinks she will never find love since who could love a blind person. Chris returns from the outside world and find Ellie to be intriguing and beautiful.

Healing Hearts follow the Lapps who are a couple married for many years and now struggling with empty nest syndrome. The husband actually leaves for a almost a year not knowing how to relate to his wife anymore. Will they find love again?

I think these stories will appeal to any woman. The romance and love we all can relate to. While these are considerably tame compared to ‘regular’ romance novels I would use caution if you are going to have your girls read them as they have some seductive wording.

Loved them and would recommend for a weekend read :) Visit Amazon An Amish Love: Healing Hearts/What the Heart Sees/A Marriage of the Heart (Inspirational Amish Anthology

Amy Inspired by Bethany Pierce – Book Review

Posted by Leslie | It's Fun Stuff! | Sunday 5 December 2010 3:59 pm

Amy Inspired is about the aspiring writer Amy and her life. The story follows Amy’s life as a writer/professor. Amy has the desire to be a writer, but has not been published. She has a less than stellar love life. The story pulls in Amy’s family and roommates, but leaves a lot of storylines not fully complete. The story I guess is just about ordinary life, the ins and outs of those one talks to everyday, week in and week out.

I want a story to pull me in and not let me off the adventure until the end! Unfortunately, Amy Inspired failed me in this aspect. It was a good story, but it didn’t suck me in. I really struggled to get through the book. Around chapter 13 the book started to pull me in and I hoped it would continue. However, after a few short chapters of “I can’t put it down” I was back to struggling. I hoped the ending would redeem the rest of the book and give me some satisfaction of finishing it. The ending was sweet, but it left me wondering what else happened to Amy. The ending would have probably been a better start to the story and could be a good jump off point to another book.

The book is published by a Christian publisher. While the book isn’t secular, I think it had some questionable subject matter that made me a bit surprised. It was just random things that really weren’t needed in the story. Maybe the author was trying to appeal a little more to the secular readership.

I was given a free copy of this book from Bethany House Book Reviewers Program to provide a review. My opinions are my own and not influenced by the sponsor.

It covers everything from coupons, to the goal price to buy at, to storing your food, organization and much more. It isn’t just about saving money, but saving time to have more quality time with your family.

Steve and Annette Economides give you proven tips that they have learned over the years while feeding a family of seven! They have a lot of experience on this top and have fine tuned it over the years.

As you know, I try to be savvy when it comes to grocery shopping. This book at a ton of information in it that I was able to gain, I found it very informative. It is a good highlight and write in the margins book. There is a lot of basic information, but they also go in depth. This book is written so you can jump in right where you are in your savings adventure. They even give you suggestions at the end of each chapter for how to put the tips to use based on your current expertise. There was information in the book that I had been looking for elsewhere and hadn’t been able find. I can’t wait to put these tips to use!

There were a few areas that left me wanting to know more, but overall it was great. I plan to read it again so I can absorb more. I am even considering their once a month shopping! If you want to start saving more I would recommend you get this book.
